Composite Metal/Polymer Chevron Sealing System

Composite Metal/Polymer Chevron Sealing System

Description

For demanding applications, in terms of sealing action and reliability, Parker has developed a composite metal/polymer “chevron” sealing system.

Applications

  • "Bore to shaft" redundant (metal and polymer) sealing
  • Both static and dynamic sealing
  • High-pressure, high-temperature static and dynamic sealing
  • Stacked, composite design allows for either limited reciprocating or limited rotational shaft movemenet
  • For sealing against high-pressure hydaulic well-bore fluids and gases

Features

  • Custom-designed to meet application specifications
  • Wide range of sizes available from 1/2-inch to 20-inch diameter
  • Wide range of pressures to 30,000 psi and temperatures to 1200°F
  • Good for bidirectional pressures
  • Tolerates greater axial misalignment of bore and shaft when compared to conventional metal seals
  • Multiple material choices for high strength, corrosion and fatigue resistance
  • NACE compliant
  • Redundancy of many seal rings
  • Various combinations of metal and polymeric materials are available to meet application specifications for leakage
