Technical Sales Representative

Summary/Objective

Outside sales responsibility working a Northern Ohio territory with a local customer service and warehouse team located in Maumee, Ohio. The sales representative sells products using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge to assist customers in applying the products and services to their needs, resulting in revenue generation. Employee would be responsible maintaining and developing business with existing and new customers.

Position Details

Full-time position with a draw plus commission, company paid vehicle, and full benefit package.

Travel

This position requires up to 100% travel in the local area. Travel outside of sales territory is required as needed to support, sustain, and develop customer business.

  1. Makes sales contacts, researches customer needs, and develops application of products and services.
  2. Manage the sales process and control product offering.
  3. Participates in development of new products, modification of existing products, and termination of ineffective products.
  4. Make direct contact with customers; maintain existing territory and expand accordingly.
  5. Develop new accounts.
  6. Train customers regarding new product applications.
  7. Keep Branch Manager informed on all activities (i.e. new products, new program prototypes, etc.) and competitive activity.
  8. Provide timely reports summarizing business activities on a weekly basis.
  9. Develop new product/market plans with management.
  10. Provide annual budgets for expected sales, profit and expenses.
  11. Maintain consistent level of professionalism associated with the position.
  12. Participates in sales forecasting and planning.
  13. Manages technical aspects of committees and working groups.
  14. Develops and maintains communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff and customers using established guidelines.
  15. Acts as the customer's primary technical representative from company.
  16. Represents all of company's product lines and experience for new or present customers.
  17. Makes technical visits on behalf of company, to technical groups at various customers, potential customers, and other organizations.

Preferred Education & Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  2. Formal sales training, experience in solution selling, and 5 years of field sales experience.
  3. Relevant material knowledge in rubber and plastic.
  4. Capable of applying high mechanical aptitude to create solutions utilizing our seals, gaskets, and other related products.
  5. Analytical skills sufficient to develop solutions to customer problems, some of which may be innovative, and to negotiate mutually satisfactory business deals.
  6. Communication skills sufficient to persuade others; communication with customers requires tact and the ability to establish trusting relationships.

Buyer

Maumee, OH

Summary/Objective

The Toledo buyer manages expenditures of ~$10M+ per year for materials and/or services to support the company's purchasing programs. The buyer is responsible for entering and scheduling purchase orders per customer requirements for price, delivery, and quality. This position will have additional branch responsibilities including general office support with a variety of clerical activities.

In addition, this position will have opportunities to develop and train on customer service functions. Zatkoff customer service representatives provide effective service by using excellent, in-depth knowledge of company products and programs as well as communicating effectively with team members within the customer service department and outside sales.

Essential Functions

  1. Communicate effectively to meet and exceed customer's expectations.
  2. Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required.
  3. Performs contract review on vendor acknowledgements to confirm price, delivery, and customer requirements are met.
  4. Follows up with suppliers on late and unacknowledged purchase orders to ensure delivery by a specific date
  5. Expedites parts with suppliers to meet required delivery dates
  6. Reviews daily reports to monitor delivery and price
  7. Works closely with accounting and suppliers to resolve claims for short shipments, damaged, or wrong parts.
  8. Communicates supplier changes in pricing, delivery, or engineering with customer service and sales teams.
  9. Secures and analyzes quotations, negotiates prices and terms with suppliers, and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
  10. Computes price, discount, and shipping charges as required.
  11. Compiles statistics and prepares various reports for management.
  12. Answers telephones and directs the caller to the appropriate associate.
  13. Assists in the ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution of office supplies.
  14. Assists with other related clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, filing and collating.

Required Education & Experience

  3. Bachelor's degree preferred with emphasis in business administration, economics or engineering with two years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm, 40 hours per week.

Travel

Regular travel is not expected for this position; however some minimal travel may be required.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary. Quality Control Manager

Summary/Objective

The Quality Control Manger is responsible for establishing an effective corporate Quality Management System (QMS) that promotes continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. This position uses knowledge of regulatory requirements to assess, document, and make recommendations for the quality of manufactured and distributed products. The Quality Manager collaborates closely with sales, customer service, Inspection personnel, and suppliers.

  1. Develop, implement, document, manage, and integrate a Quality Management System for all distribution and manufacturing locations.
  2. Educate and train employees as to their impact in the quality management system.
  3. Serve as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution and continuous improvement.
  4. Design, implement, and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection.
  5. Establish and implement metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement criteria) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound process / product quality decisions.
  6. Perform root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  7. Monitor vendor performance and establish criteria and rating system for critical vendors.
  8. Establish collection and analysis systems of data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality and distribution efficiencies.
  9. Develop quality planning methods for all product lines.
  10. Develop process certification standards and assist in process certification.
  11. Review customer purchase orders and change requests as necessary to ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.
  12. Interact with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
  13. Oversee calibration and inspection programs.
  14. Report to management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
  15. Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  16. Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
  17. Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service.
  18. Perform product dimensional layouts and GD&T for product compliance.
  19. Operate equipment for product identification and analysis.

Supervisory Responsibility


This position supervises and supports the quality departments of eight locations but is not responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees at each location.

Position Details

This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. The primary work location will be at the corporate office in Farmington Hills, Michigan with occasional travel to other Zatkoff, supplier, and customer locations. Travel will be as needed to support quality initiatives.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or business administration, or equivalent number of years of experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in QA systems implementation and management.
  • Extensive material and product knowledge in rubber, plastic, seals, and gaskets.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Experience with IS0 9001, AS9120, and UL certifications.
  • Experience with quality requirements for specific markets including automotive, aerospace, industrial, and life science.
  • Knowledge of Product dimensional layouts and GD&T for product compliance.
  • Comfort researching, understanding and advising on regulatory and environmental requirements including: ITAR, DFAR, REACH, ROHS, ELV, WEEE, NAFTA, IMDS, and Prop 65.

Full-Time Shipping/Receiving Position
