The canned wiper consists of a polyurethane scraper
element encased in a metal shell to enable it to be
pressed into an open face gland without the aid of other
retention devices such as snap rings or face plates. The
elastometric element is bonded to the metal by adhesive
means. The metal shell is carbon steel which has been
treated to prevent corrosion.
Due to the use of tough abrasion resistant materials the
canned wiper is excellent for use in severe environmental
service. The canned wiper is resistant to damage from
frozen or dried mud, grit, sand, and light weld splatter.
