Bonded Seals

Bonded Seals

Description

The Bonded Seal provides the equivalent of a flat washer and a face to face sealing element under a bolt head, rivet, or similar device. Locking action results from friction of the compressed rubber against the fixed surface and the nut or bolt head.

A steel retainer is bonded to a rubber seal which increases in thickness toward the center (Trapezoidal). This shape is the Bonded Seals’ secret to absolute sealing. The dynamics of the rubber shape initiates a positive seal under all condition-against water, gases, petroleum products, and many other fluids.

When the bolt head is fully tightened on the seal retainer the rubber is fully compressed and creates a seal at zero pressure. Increased pressure tightens the seal.
